Deschutes Rafting Trip
This trip is scheduled for either Sept, 19, 25, or 26. Vote for the day you would like to go on with your E-vite. If you haven't received an e-vite for this trip, send me e-mail, and I'll add you to the list. I plan on renting the rafts from River Trails, in Maupin, Oregon. Cost of this rafting adventure will be $20.
This is a self guided rafting trip, so I need some guides. I will be
guiding, and I can train anyone else to guide (preferably someone that's rafting
this river before). This is a class 2-4 river. There are only 2
class 4 rapids (Box Car and Oak Springs). They snap a picture of you when
you go through those like the picture you see above.
Trip Details:
- Leave Portland in the morning and get to Maupin around 11am
- Shuttle people to Harpham Flats (Put in) and then shuttle all cars to Sandy Beach (Take out point).
- Take one car with drivers back to Harpham Flats
- Raft 12 exciting river miles beginning at Harpham Flats and ending at Sandy Beach. You will enjoy such rapids as Devil’s Hole, Box Car, Wapinitia, Surf City, Oak Springs, White River and Elevators.
- Water fights the whole way down (bring your water weapons).
- Have lunch near Maupin City Park
- Body Surf through the rapids on Elevator Shaft.
- At the Take Out point, change into dry clothes and head for the photo shop for Ice Cream and pictures. One car takes last driver back to Harpham Flats for his car.
- Head back to Portland for dinner
What To Bring Along on Your Raft Trip
Directions: Take Hwy 26 East, 216 East, 197 South

Turn left right after crossing bridge over Deschutes River. Look for big barn that says River Trails on right of road.
